CHAPS

UK

70,000 UK men die prematurely every year at one-and-a-half times the rate of women from a range of problems, most of which are entirely preventable. One in 5 men die before 65! The case for better provision of resources devoted to improving the health and well-being of men therefore seems indisputable. For instance, there is no organised NHS screening programme for prostate cancer although prostate cancer is the commonest major male cancer in the UK, we aim to stop this by raising awareness and providing screening services for: Cardiovascular disease and diabetes in the NHS Health Check; Aortic aneurysm; Skin cancer; Prostate cancer

Financial Support: Debt

Christians against poverty

UK: England • Northern Ireland • Scotland • Wales

Poverty is so much more than going without. It's so much more than lacking materially. Poverty destroys lives. It robs people of joy, hope and opportunities. It tears families apart, isolates those most in need of support, and leads many to believe there is no way out. Before seeking help, 1 in 3 of our clients had considered or attempted suicide. We won't settle for that here at Christians Against Poverty (CAP). Our vision is to see transformed lives, thriving churches and an end to UK poverty.

Colourblind Awareness

UK

Colour blindness (colour vision deficiency, or CVD) affects approximately 1 in 12 men (8%) and 1 in 200 women in the world. In Britain this means that there are approximately 3 million colour blind people (about 4.5% of the entire population), most of whom are male. The Colour Blind Awareness organisation has been founded to raise awareness of colour blindness (colour vision deficiency) and aims to be the first point of reference in the UK for people seeking information on colour blindness. The organisation provides support for colour blind people, especially colour blind children and their families and teachers.
